Miss Katie
Miss Katie Null is treasured by Ms. Laura and the rest of the FDC family. She started dance at a young age here at FDC and was a valued member of our Fairfield Dance Company. We have been so fortunate that she will continue to share her positive light here at the front desk for her third season, being the most amazing substitute instructor and sharing her joy, patience, and energy with all dancers while being an amazing role model.

Ms. Laura Edwards began her dance training at the age of four under the direction of Joee Shapiro. After moving at the age of eight, she continued her training with Ms. Becky Vincent, training in ballet, pointe, tap and jazz. In 1982, Laura Edwards continued her classical ballet training under the direction of Ballet Master Gilbert Rome. In the years to come she continued training and taking classes with such instructors as Margo Marshall, Victoria Vittum, Delia Stewart, Julie Stewart, Michelle Smith, and Frank Hatchet just to name a few. Later, Ms Laura auditioned and entered her high school years at HSPVA (High School for the Performing and Visual Arts) continuing to study classical ballet and modern under a multitude of instructors. Laura Edwards also branched out into the Hip Hop/Street Dance genre with the Uptown Street Dance Company under the direction of Alex and Victoria Arizpe.
Ms. Laura started performing at a very young age at annual recitals, retirement homes, mall performances, as well as local city Festivals. She later had the opportunity to perform in HSPVA dance concerts, Industrials with La Gear, Nike, Reebok and Kohler, main stage performances at Mardi Gras Galveston, Choreographers X6, as well as halftime performances for the Houston Rockets, just to name a few. At the age of fifteen, she attained her lead role as "Amelia" in Mark Wilson's production of a Midsummer’s Night Scream on the Main Stage of Six Flags Astroworld taking the stage with actor Robert England (Freddy Kruger) as well. While dancing with the Uptown Street Dance Company Ms. Laura was allocated a featured dancer roll in the Movie Trailer "World Peace" featuring rapper Ice-T as well as a featured dancer for the movie "Rush".
After years of training, dancing, performing ,traveling, and teaching for many others, she had the opportunity to follow part 2 of her dream: to open a dance studio and continue sharing her love of dance with young dancers! Fairfield Dance Center was opened in June of 2001. Ms. Laura, mom of an artsy 22 year old, believes in offering a quality dance education in a friendly environment and positive atmosphere. She also believes in meeting each dancer where they are and that every child should be cherished for who they are as a person. Ms. Laura and her talented staff believe in teaching and costuming in a manner that promotes positive self-esteem. Ms. Laura’s students have received many scholarships as well as recipients of special judges’ awards, top scores, and overalls at dance competitions. Her students have gone onto choreograph and dance with professional dance companies as well as performing in movies, cruise lines, Disney, the renowned Rockettes, touring dance shows, prominent members of college dance teams, dancers attending HSPVA, of course members and officers of their High School drill teams. Whether each student continues to dance or not, Ms. Laura wishes each dancer that walks through her doors to always Reach for the Stars!
